Vivid Studio Insider for January 9, 2009

MEGGAN FEATURED IN "VELVET" - Vivid Girl Meggan Mallone is featured in the February issue of Velvet magazine, with a cover line that reads "Vivid's Newest Nymph." As interviewer Troy Michael notes: "Meggan's 32C-26-34 figure is slightly enhanced up top, but her green eyes, brown hair and perfectly curvy 118 pounds are all natural, as is her open, friendly personality?that combination of the really hot girl next door and sophisticated sex siren is what clinched her deal with Vivid." Meggan reveals that sometimes the line between sex in her personal life and on camera gets a little blurry. "I think I'm very much myself on camera, if not more so, because you let your inhibitions go. I don't think about anything but that other person when I'm doing it in front of the camera. So I guess there wouldn't be that much of a difference (between private and on-screen) except for one thing, and I'm not going to say what it is that I've done. Other than that, I've done pretty much everything the same way in front of the camera."

IAN AND KIMBERLY ON CURRENT-TV FROM UCSB - Vivid-Alt head Ian McKai and actress Kimberly Kane can be seen on Current TV in outtakes from their recent appearance at the University of California Santa Barbara. (link). They addressed the UCSB Film and Media Studies Department in a course taught by Professor Constance Penley. They answered questions from film school students about what it's like to be involved in adult films. Speaking about why he enjoys making alt films for Vivid, McKai told students: "I get to make it possible for people like Kimberly Kane (who starred in and directed the Vivid-Alt film "Morphine") to hone their skills." If you like shooting, directing, filming, promoting and having your hands in everything, which is how I was, then adult films is the place for you." McKai said he gets more queries from women than men about making alt films - the female voice in this business is getting louder and louder." Professor Penley discussed legal aspects of the industry and said that her ability to share adult films and film making concepts in her classes "gives them scientific value." Said one student after the class: "LOL definitely a cool subject, keep it up!"

HIRSCH DISMISSES FLYNT-FRANCIS BAIL OUT PLAN - Vivid co-chairman Steven Hirsch has dismissed the proposal for a federal bail out of the adult industry as "unrealistic." Hirsch spoke about the plan with the Los Angeles Daily News and was quoted as saying: "To think we're going to go to Washington and get a bailout is a little unrealistic. This is not the time to make sweeping statements. This is the time to buckle down and take the steps we need to save our industry. This industry is not immune from (the bad economy). People are spending less money, period." The newspaper added: "Hirsch said he thinks Flynt and Francis are 'just poking fun at all the industries getting bailouts.' Hirsch said Vivid isn't suffering as badly as smaller rivals because its prominent brand name gives the company 'a leg up.'"

SUNNY LEONE PSA TO DEBUT AT AVN AWARDS - Vivid Girl Sunny Leone is featured in a public service announcement from the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) on the RTA "Restricted to Adults" website label. Her PSA will debut at the 2009 AVN Awards in Las Vegas on Jan. 10 and will also be shown at the Internext Expo set for Jan. 12-14 at the Palms Casino Resort. Sunny reminds companies to protect children and also protect their business by labeling with RTA. There's also a longer version of the PSA on YouTube.com encouraging parents to use parental filtering software in order to protect children from viewing age-inappropriate content. It's the latest in a series of PSAs produced by ASACP featuring different adult entertainment stars. RTA is the adult entertainment industry's initiative to protect children from viewing content that is age-inappropriate. It was developed by ASACP to create an internationally recognized label that designates content for adults only. Currently, more than 4.5 million sites have labeled with RTA.
