STEVEN HIRSCH'S UNCOMFORTABLE MOMENT IN BARGAINING FOR "DEEP THROAT" RIGHTS -- When Vivid set out to produce a remake of the classic "Deep Throat," co-chairman Steven Hirsch had no idea of the drama ahead of him. A riveting reality series, "Deeper Throat," which details all the gritty drama of the making of "Throat" - begins airing Saturday, February 14th at 11:30 pm ET on premium cable TV. World of Wonder was just getting beginning the production of the "Deeper Throat" reality series - which captures the making of the update of the famous Linda Lovelace film -when the endeavor began to take unexpected and dramatic turns. Hirsch recalls his first meeting with Ray Pistol, the owner of Arrow Productions, which controls rights to "Deep Throat" and anything to do with it. "I've got nothing against strip clubs but I like mine upscale. In the first episode of the series Ray asked me to meet him in a really seedy strip joint in Vegas and the place made me feel uncomfortable. Then he had one of his dancers try to give me a lap dance and I was thinking well, 'You gotta do what you gotta do to make this happen,' but I just hope it's worth it." Vivid plans on releasing scenes from the film in advance, on a special website created for the movie. "Throat" is directed by Paul Thomas and stars Sasha Grey in the Lovelace role. It has been described by AVN reviewer Jared Rutter as "porn noir, a dark mystery about innocence destroyed. Swiftly paced and engrossing, it plays like a mainstream movie...a whole new take on the porn classic." AVN gave the movie 5 A's, its highest rating.

VIVID-ALT HOSTS 'LIVE IN MY SECRETS' RELEASE PARTY - The alt-porn stars came out on February 3rd to celebrate Kimberly Kane's new Vivid-Alt fetish film "Live in My Secrets" at Beauty Bar in Hollywood. Vivid-Alt head Eon McKai said "it was the first party that I promoted on Twitter and the response was crazy." As guests partied, screens in the club displayed footage from Kane's edgy hardcore work. "Live in My Secrets" is the third Vivid-Alt film directed by Kimberly (it follows "Triple Ecstasy" and "Morphine." Guests at the party Tuesday night got a chance to win high-quality fetish gear from Stockroom.com, including one item from the new film -- an edible Jawbreaker candy ball-gag that "offers an erotic alternative to the traditional rubber ball for the mouth".

An interview of Eon with reporter Juliette Tang appears in the current issue of San Francisco Bay Guardian under the headline "Tubesocks Lust." Asked to describe how the Vivid-Alt approach to alt-porn differs from others, Eon says: "I try to make sure Vivid-Alt and the stuff that we make is as open and as free as that whole process. I'm just not interested in making porn that looks like it's stuck in 2001." Asked who he believes is his core audience, Eon responds: "There are definitely a core group of people who really identify with a particular director or there are people who identify with Kimberly Kane and who she is, or people who are friends of my work, or Dave Naz, or people in the rockabilly and psycho-billy scene who are into Winkytiki's work, or people who are into porn in general and are a particular breed of porn fan. And there are people who find this stuff the way you find porn on the internet or in the video shop, and I think if somebody watches a lot of porn and they need variety, this can provide a variety." KELLI FEATURED IN "TV GUIDE" INTERVIEW -- "Faithless" star Kelli McCarty is featured in an interview this week on TV Guide.com. An article introducing the video of the interview begins: "As Passions' Beth, Kelli McCarty pretty much experienced it all - a love triangle with an orangutan, dressing up as a clown, and getting wooed by her own father. Still, McCarty has found new territory to explore, as the star of her first-ever adult film, Vivid's 'Faithless.'" Kelli explains her "unexpected professional segue" in the interview by noting, "Doing an adult film was never in the back of my head. I just sat on the idea [and] approached Vivid, and they said, 'Yeah, let's make a movie.'"

Chief among McCarty's concerns as an actress was wanting to "combine the acting and the sex ... and to have a storyline that I liked." Among other highlights of the TV Guide interview:

B. SKOW BLOG FEATURES NIKKI - A recent blog by Vivid director B. Skow on XCritic.com (http://www.xcritic.com/blogs/blog.php?blogID=1378) featured an inside-the-tent look at the action on a movie set - it turned into quite a party. Under the title "Three Moons, Evan Stone Visits, and a Princess" B. Skow described a memorable work day: "Today was great. I shot two really good scenes for Vivid.com and had the best time doing it. I shot Nikki Jayne today and a cute girl named Princess. She looked amazing and did a filthy girl-girl scene with Nikki. Evan Stone stopped by today to hang out and started a dance party and my producer Shylar compares his ass with the girls."
