The pornographic movie industry, in response to the

Internet, is focusing even less on narrative arcs

these days. Savanna Samson, an actress, says she

favors scripts with more dialogue.

VIVID MAKES PAGE ONE OF THE NEW YORK TIMES - Vivid Entertainment and Vivid Girl Savanna Samson made the front page of The New York Times this week in a story by reporter Matt Richtel about the move toward action-oriented adult films and away from those with plot and dialogue. The article also included a stunning photo of Savanna taken for The Times by photographer Yana Paskova. "The pornographic movie industry has long had only a casual interest in plot and dialogue. But moviemakers are focusing even less on narrative arcs these days," wrote Richtel. "Instead, they are filming more short scenes that can be easily uploaded to Web sites and sold in several-minute chunks. 'On the Internet, the average attention span is three to five minutes,' said Steven Hirsch, co-chairman of Vivid Entertainment. 'We have to cater to that.' Vivid, one of the most prominent pornography studios makes 60 films a year. Three years ago, almost all of them were feature-length films with story lines. Today, more than half are a series of sex scenes, loosely connected by some thread - vignettes' in the industry vernacular - that can be presented separately online. Other major studios are making similar shifts." Richtel continues, "'It's almost like we're back to the late '70s or early '80s when the average movie was eight minutes and just a sex scene,' Mr. Hirsch said, sounding wistful. Some in the industry would prefer their sex with a little more character development. Ms. Samson, for example, said she took her acting seriously and used to prepare studiously for her roles, like the character she played in the 2006 movie 'Flasher.' She said she played a psychotic who, because of the way her mother treated her, 'had an obsession with flashing and doing things in public?I used to have dialogue,' said Ms. Samson who is one of the industry's biggest stars. 'Getting it on in one hardcore scene after another just isn't as much fun,' she added."

VIVID GIRLS FROLIC IN LAS VEGAS OVER THE 4TH -- Four Vivid Girls hosted a gala party on the 4th of July at Studio 54 nightclub at the MGM Grand Las Vegas in Las Vegas. The party got underway just before midnight and went on well into the wee hours. As The Las Vegas Sun newspaper reported: " Over at Studio 54, the scene was extra-sexy as the lovely ladies of Vivid Entertainment lent their considerable talents to the MGM Grand nightspot. A handful of adult film stars, including 2009 AVN Best New Starlet Nominee Nikki Jayne, Monique Alexander, Meggan Mallone and former Penthouse Pet Sunny Leone were there for the smokin' hot Saturday night party." On Sunday the Vivid Girls hung out at the MGM Grand pool, signing autographs and chatting with fans who admired their colorful bikinis.

SAVANNA'S NEW SEX COLUMN - Vivid Girl Savanna Samson is an expert at demonstrating advanced sexual techniques in her blockbuster movies. Now she's again giving one-on-one online advice to Internet users through a column on the popular website Xcritic.com. In an announcement this week Xcritic editor Chris Thorne told fans: "Welcome to our new sex advice column, Savanna on Sex, from one of the industry's most talented and accomplished performers. In addition to her award-winning movies for Vivid Entertainment, Savanna Samson is an experienced columnist, having given sex advice for both Men's Fitness magazine and AdultFriendFinder. She is also the co-author of "How to Have a XXX Sex Life." She now appears on XCritic for a monthly sex advice column where she answers your questions about sex and sexuality." Her first column covers deep-throating, anal sex and swinging.

HIGH PRAISE FROM XCRITIC FOR GOING DEEP AND BOUNCE - XCritic.com has given its coveted "highly recommended" tribute to two recent Vivid films directed by B. Skow, Going Deep and Bounce. Writing about Going Deep, starring Savanna Samson, reviewer Ravyn C praises Skow for his "unique style enjoyed by all avid watchers of Gonzo" and says the film "has a lot going for it and I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did!" Ravyn C particularly liked "the fact that the majority of the film was done outdoors using natural lighting and the many camera angles used during penetration. Not too many performers that I have seen are into doing creampie shots and it was nice to see that in this Vivid feature." Also getting kudos from XCritic was Bounce, starring Hanna Hilton and also directed by B. Skow. Reviewer Mooninite writes that Skow's "work here with all natural blonde double-d superstar Hanna Hilton is definitely a cut above. While not quite flat out gonzo, there isn't really any plot here to speak of at all, though each scene is set up nicely with a simple premise to give all of the hardcore action some sort of context. It isn't deep, but it works ? Hanna Hilton fans or big breast aficionados in general absolutely need this disc." Earning "recommended" note from XCritic this month are several other Vivid films, including Undress Me, starring Sunny Leone; Flashback, starring Briana Banks; the Vivid-Alt "prockumentary" (porn/rock documentary) Pussy A Go Go! directed by Octavio Winkytiki; Blame it on Savanna, directed by Paul Thomas; and Suck It, directed by Skow and starring Hannah with Meggan Mallone.
