VIVID STUDIO INSIDER FOR SEPTEMBER 4, 2009

VIVID STUDIO INSIDER FOR SEPTEMBER 4, 2009

AJ IS WRESTLING-INC GIRL OF THE MONTH -- Vivid Girl AJ Bailey is the WrestlingINC.com Girl of the Month for September. In a lavishly illustrated feature on the site "The World's Smartest Porn Star" (according to TMZ.com and confirmed by Howard Stern) answers questions from WrestlingINC.com's Raj Giri. Why, AJ is asked, after earning a post graduate degree in anthropology and museum studies from the vaunted St. Andrew's University, did she choose to enter the adult industry. "Who doesn't want to be fussed over and get paid to get laid?" AJ asks in return, noting that she paid for graduate school by working in the adult industry on an all girl website. An unanticipated benefit was that after the word got out in grad school that she was doing porn she rarely had to pay for a drink. Still, she says, "whether or not I keep my clothes on has little bearing on my performance in the classroom." She also revealed that doesn't currently have a steady boyfriend, although she'd love to date a wrestler. "There is something very primal and masculine about the sport that appeals to both men and women," AJ tells WrestlingINC. When AJ appeared on The Howard Stern Radio Show on Sirius/XM earlier this month, he challenged her with questions on current events and other topics, just about all of which she answered correctly. This inspired Howard to say "You really are the world's smartest porn star." Says WrestlingINC's Raj Giri: "AJ is brainy and sexy. She's also totally realistic about the current market for jobs in her field and anthropology's loss is our gain."

THE TONIGHT SHOW VISIT TO VIVID A BLOGOSPHERE SENSATION - The blogosphere seems to have loved the episode on The Tonight Show last week when Conan O"Brien dropped in for a visit at the Vivid Entertainment offices on Cahuenga Boulevard in Los Angeles. A quick Google search shows thousands of pickups and references or stories about the visit. Coverage ranged from blogs such as MyBlogLog, TVMunchies and TweetMeMe, which charts the hottest links on the Internet. Hulu.com also linked to the entire episode.

EDITOR AND PUBLISHER CITES HIRSCH CORRECTION - Editor & Publisher, the prestigious trade magazine for the newspaper industry, had some fun with Vivid's correction of an Associated Press story. "Adult filmmakers know catchy titles sell, so it's no surprise that the headline over the press release that came across the normally staid Business Wire Tuesday had that gotta-read-this quality: "'You Can Never Be Too Careful in Sex and in Journalism,' Says Vivid Chief Steven Hirsch." The E&P story by Mark Fitzgerald went on to say that "AP reported incorrectly that in 2004 five Vivid performers tested positive for HIV and quoted Steven as saying, 'This erroneous statement was damaging to our company and demonstrates that you can never be too careful in sex and in journalism... none of our performers had or has HIV.' The company tests performers before each film, he added. That clears that up."
