COVERAGE MARKS VIVID’S 25TH – AVN, the dominant magazine serving the adult industry, devoted 11 pages of its September issue to stories and photos marking Vivid’s 25th anniversary. The coverage begins with a front cover photo of founder Steven Hirsch and the headline “The Man Who Changed Adult.”

Publisher and Editor Tony Lovett notes in an opening column his own background as a one-time competitor to Vivid, recalling “how Vivid was changing not only the industry, but how Americans perceived porn. Those who only came into this business during the online era may not grasp the breathtaking importance of those early Vivid boxes, the impact of contract girls, and the seamless branding savvy that smacked of Madison Avenue rather than Canoga Avenue.”

He reports on how “Vivid Video has morphed into Vivid Entertainment Group, and that change speaks volumes. The company now bestrides the whole world of adult entertainment: DVDs, VOD, online membership sites, hotels, mobile content, a novelty line via Doc Johnson and on the horizon, IPTV.”

Rutter interviewed numerous stars and industry celebrities for the story, including Christie Canyon, who recalled, “I was a star when I went to Vivid for my contract and I left porno films a superstar because of Vivid.”

MEGGAN IS DESIRE MAGAZINE COVER GIRL – Vivid Girl Meggan Mallone WAS THE END OF SUMMER cover girl of DESIRE MAGAZINE.
