VIVID OFFER TO RUSSIAN SPY AND HER “NYET” MAKE WORLDWIDE HEADLINES – Celebrity news website TMZ.com broke the story on Monday that Vivid had offered sexy Russian spy Anna Chapman a part in an adult film. The story, which went out under the headline: Porn Co. to Russian Spy -- We Want You Undercovers, immediately raced around the world. Thousands of websites, newspapers, magazines and other had their own versions of it and Vivid then issued its own press release that generated even more coverage. It all started after TMZ got hold of a letter Vivid’s Steven Hirsch sent to Chapman’s U.S. attorney. In the letter to Robert M. Baum, Steven made it clear that he understood that she may not yet be in a position to negotiate business deals but said, "we wanted her to know that we are ready and eager to talk terms with her." On Tuesday Chapman revealed that she had no interest in making an adult film, and once again TMZ led the coverage with story headlined: “Russian Spy Says Nyet to Porn Career.” TMZ reported: “Hirsch tells us it ain't over yet -- the offer's still on the table if Chapman ever changes her mind.” The story continued to get play throughout the week, including mention on the Today Show Friday morning in a segment by Mike Taibi in which the Vivid logo was prominently pictured during his reporting.

VIVID READIES RELEASE OF MALICE IN LALALAND – Vivid has won U.S. distribution rights to the critically acclaimed and highly anticipated breakthrough title Malice in Lalaland from Miss Lucifer Productions and starring Sasha Grey. It is a contemporary adaptation of both "Alice in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass," two iconic books by Lewis Carroll. It takes viewers to a strange world where they meet its even stranger characters, including Malice (Sasha) who has escaped from an asylum after a nasty round of shock treatment. She follows a midget in a rabbit suit (Stephen Powers) down a hole in a basement and the start of a bizarre trip through Lalaland.

Produced by Joachem Goldstein and Lew Xypher, the movie combines animation, live action, hot sex scenes and a rock 'n roll score with remarkable post production and special effects. It's the second production from wildly talented director Xypher whose 2008 debut release Hell is Where the Party Is received high praise. "We found this movie to be irresistible and we plan distribution for this September. The packaging alone, with its 40 page booklet of photos will make this a choice collector's item. It has mainstream sensibility and extraordinary production values with the erotic punch that only scorching sex scenes can deliver. It's filled with fantastical twists and turns that are inspired by Lewis Carroll but it never forgets that it's designed to be a turn on," said Steven Hirsch, founder/co-chairman of Vivid. Said Jurgen Claes, CEO of Miss Lucifer Productions: "We are delighted that "Malice" will be distributed by Vivid. It gives us total confidence that it will be handled in the same highly professional way in which the movie was produced" imagination serves as tour guide as Malice

STEVEN HIRSCH QUOTED IN FINANCIAL TIMES STORY – London’s Financial Times reported extensively on the move by Playboy founder Hugh Hefner to take his company private and the subsequent bid by Penthouse to acquire Playboy. FT reporters Kenneth Li in New York and Matthew Garrahan in Los Angeles wrote: “’Playboy, like every adult entertainment company, is experiencing the wrath of the free sites,’ says Steven Hirsch, founder and chief executive of Vivid Entertainment, one of the biggest porn producers and distributors. ‘If he gets his hands on Playboy, (Marc Bell) would have to address the damage being wreaked on the adult entertainment industry by free sites. ‘DVD sales are down across the industry by 40 per cent,” says Mr. Hirsch. ‘With all the pirated content and the free sites that are out there – plus an economy that’s been struggling – you have real trouble.’ Mr Hirsch said technological advances would be one way to beat the free sites. ‘I think ultimately all adult movies will be produced in 3D,’ he said. ‘They really lend themselves to 3D. But I don’t think people want to watch an adult movie wearing a pair of 3D glasses. Eventually we will have 3D sets that don’t require glasses.’”
